Historic Village of Hartington
The village of Hartington is an attractive busy little village dating back to the early 1200’s. Stilton cheese is stil made at the factory in Hartington and you can buy samples from the shop on the square. Hartington Hall, formerly a Tudor manor house is where Bonnie Prince Charlie is rumoured to have stayed in 1745. The restaurant and bar are open to the public serving local produce.
It is a busy area especially at weekends with tea rooms and souvenier shops, and its proximity to The Tissington Trail. It is also a good place to start walking along Beresford Dale.
