The Tissington Trail

The Tissington Trail was originally the trackbed of the Buxton to Ashbourne railway line.  It runs along a 13 mile route from Ashbourne to Parsley Hay where it then joins up with the High Peak Trail.  In the 1960’s the line was closed and it was turned into a trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.  It is mainly flat, although there is a relatively steep incline at Mapleton near the southern end of the trail.

The Trail is open to the public every day of the year and is completely free of traffic.  There is no charge to use the trail.  It is suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs along its flat sections.
